Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash white pepper
Dash ground nutmeg, optional
1 cup 2% milk
2 ounces Gruyere cheese, shredded
Preparation
Step 1
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour, salt, pepper and, if desired, nutmeg until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Add cheese; stir until melted.
