Ingredients
1 11.2 oz Guinness Beer or other stout beer
1.5 cups Ketchup use a no sugar added ketchup
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Maple Syrup
1 tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
2 tsp. Smoked Paprika
1 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
Preparation
Step 1
In a saucepan, add the Guinness beer and bring it to a boil. Once boiling reduce the heat slightly and allow it to simmer for 10 minutes. This reduces the amount of liquid, concentrates the flavor, and cooks off the alcohol.
Step 2
Reduce the heat to medium-low and whisk in the ketchup, brown sugar, maple, syrup, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Then mix in the spices.
Step 3
Whisk until it's fully combined and allow it to simmer on low heat for an additional 10 minutes to reduce again thicken slightly. This sauce is a little thinner than traditional sauces, you can simmer longer if you prefer it thicker. It will also thicken more as it cools.
Step 4
Test taste and adjust salt as needed. Remove it from the heat and allow it to cool until it reaches room temperature.
Step 5
Transfer the Guinness BBQ sauce to a jar and store for 7 days in the fridge. Serve it on chicken wings, pork ribs, brisket, and any other BBQ dish you desire!
