Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 yellow onion , diced
12 ounces Dr. Pepper , 1 can (1 ½ cups)
15 ounces tomato sauce , or crushed tomatoes
3/4 cup brown sugar , packed
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Preparation
Step 1
Add oil to a dutch oven on medium heat.
Step 2
Add the onions and cook until they start to brown, stirring occasionally, about 5-6 minutes.
Step 3
Add in the Dr. Pepper, tomato sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and cornstarch stir until combined.
Step 4
Cook for 30-35 minutes until the mixture has cooked down by half and thickened.
Step 5
Use hot or store in the refrigerator.
