Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 1⁄2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided
3⁄4 cups Nutella, divided
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs + 2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
1⁄3 cup (35g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
Sea salt, optional for garnish
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on all sides.
Step 2
In a large heatproof bowl, microwave the butter in 20-second intervals until smooth. Add 1 cup of chocolate chips and mix until lump-free. If needed, microwave in 20-second bursts until the chocolate is fully melted. Stir in 1/2 cup of Nutella and set aside.
Step 3
In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs, yolks, and sugars with an electric mixer on medium speed until pale and thick, about 4-5 minutes. Turn the speed to low and blend in the vanilla.
Step 4
Add the butter-chocolate mixture and blend on low until combined. Then, add the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and remaining chocolate chips. Mix very gently by hand with a spatula until just combined.
Step 5
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining Nutella over the batter. Use a knife to swirl it into the batter, creating a marbled effect. If using, sprinkle with sea salt.
Step 6
Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake.
Step 7
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan. Use the parchment paper to lift them out, then cut into squares and serve. Enjoy!
